Microalgae are the things I work with. This is Pediastrum simplex, a pretty common green alga in freshwater. This one is a very young stage, the colonies get a lot bigger over time.

I'm an aquatic ecologist working with microalgae. I started with marine science but my last job was having fun with freshwater algae and the (hopefully) next one will be, too
