The most magical place I've seen in a long time. This gem is the work of Juan Garcia Naveira (1849-1933), someone with an amazing kind of fantasy who let his dreams come true in this park. A Disneyland of the 1920's as it is called, too, he took ideas and images from his travels and had them put in the park. There are e.g. reliefs showing a diver or him and his family in front of the Cheops Pyramid. THe mix between fantasy and travel souvenirs is quite fascinating: you can explore the underworld grottos meant to be a copy of the Roman catacombs or Hades, step up a little staircase and stand right in front of a lion statue. Unfortunately after Naveira's death the park was left to degrade and most of it was destroyed over time. Only a small part was saved recently - but it is well worth a look.

I instantly fell in love with this place so please forgive me for putting up quite a lot of pictures (none of them can truely do it justice *sigh*...) but I simply have to. So just sit back and enjoy :)

Life is just waiting around for the next disaster. The only consolation is, one of these times it'll be fatal.

I love Betanzos and have some photos up that I took there too. I never went to El Pasatiempos and now regret that as I've come to know the amount of awesome photos that can be taken there...

Anywho, nice shot!

Well, if it's any comfort: I had no time to visit the city centre. Guess I have to come back again, too, because of missed shots ;D
